After three days in Dublin we flew to Newcastle to visit a friend attending med school overseas.
On our first full day there, we took the metro to the coast.
And explored a ruined castle and abbey on the mouth of the Tyne.
That afternoon we took a train to Durham.
The cathedral reminded me of the National/St. Peter Cathedral in DC.
The Durham castle had closed for the day and we couldn't get in.
We also spent some time wandering Newcastle where he lives. I've never seen so many bridges, and the weather changes constantly.
The view from our friend's massive apartment building.
"We're still alive, mom."
"I'm really excited to be here."
